Our vision is to provide North American coffee enthusiasts with a deeper connection to South Indian coffees. Each small batch is carefully curated and roasted to preserve its unique flavor notes, offering not just a cup of coffee, but a taste of the farmers, heritage, and culture of South India.
At Dakshin Coffees, our mission is to bring the rich, unique flavors of South Indian coffees to North America through a curated and thoughtful approach. South India spans five states, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nādu, and Telangana, with Karnataka producing the majority of the region’s coffee, while the other states also host significant plantations.
For generations, South Indian coffee has been deeply woven into the region’s culture, heritage, and economy. With our Araku Valley Coffee from Andhra Pradesh becoming a big hit and voted Best Authentic South Indian Coffee by Farmers Markets for three years in a row, we are excited to expand our offerings and introduce more brilliant taste profiles from South India. As we grow, our primary focus remains on Arabica beans processed through various methods (washed, monsooned), while also bringing Robusta varieties into our selection.
Fun Fact: To celebrate the diversity of these five South Indian states, we chose the peacock as our logo, with five symbolic feathers representing each state. Beyond its grace and beauty, the peacock is a symbol of wisdom and a cherished sight across South India’s coffee plantations. Thriving in the forest-like ecosystems of shade-grown farms, peacocks find food and shelter, becoming living symbols of the region’s rich biodiversity and natural beauty. They often appear during morning walks or in rain-predicting displays, making them a perfect emblem for Dakshin Coffees’ connection to South India. Dakshin in Sanskrit means “South”.
As natives of South India, we bring first-hand knowledge and passion for its coffees, ensuring every roast reflects authenticity, quality, commitment and craftsmanship.
